Who We Are
About Faith United Church of Christ
Faith UCC is a church for these times.
We are:
- People who focus on our mission to the larger community
- An Open and Affirming (ONA) church
- Growing in Diversity
- A church that strongly values diversity in leadership
- A church that values all the arts as part of its central mission
Mission
Our mission is to share God’s love with our community and the world.
A Welcoming Church
We follow Jesus’ teaching of welcoming all persons.
No matter who you are, you are welcome here. Faith UCC is a designated Open and Affirming church. If you do not currently have a church home, we hope you will get to know us better, and perhaps consider joining us.
An Accessible Church
We have a no-step entry from our entrance drive to our upper level (Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall).
Our elevator adds access to our lower level (classrooms and offices). We have accessible restroom facilities in Fellowship Hall.
A Child-Friendly Church
Children of all ages are welcome in our church and are an important part of church life at Faith.
They can participate in Sunday service as acolytes, join the vocal and handbell choirs, and participate in Missions activities.
Childcare is available, upon request, for children 3 years or younger in our nursery. Special activity sheets for older children are available while they are in the sanctuary. During the service, children are invited to the front of the sanctuary for a Children’s Sermon (parents are welcome to come with them.
Following the Children’s Sermon, children then have the option to attend Sunday School. Following the service, children can be picked up in the Fellowship Hall.
Sacraments
Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month and special occasions throughout the year.
Communion is offered to all who wish to receive it. Children are invited to share in communion at their parents’ discretion. The bread represents the whole life and ministry of Jesus given fully in love to all. The (nonalcoholic) grape juice reminds us of God’s forgiveness announced by Jesus.
Baptism
Baptism is the act by which those who wish to be disciples of Jesus enter into a full and complete life in Christ’s Church.
We baptize people of all ages, usually by sprinkling. One’s previous baptism is recognized and re-baptism is not necessary.
